Goosetalk is established in the Netherlands and is the data controller for the processing of your personal data within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Dutch law applies to all legal relationships. For privacy questions, please contact us at info@goosetalk.com.

We collect the following categories of personal data: • Account data: email address, username and password (encrypted via Clerk). • Profile data: your chosen username, avatar and any additional profile information. • Usage data: votes on polls, created polls, quiz results and activity history. • Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information and cookies. • Communication data: emails you send us or that we send you.

Your personal data is used for: • Creating and managing your account. • Displaying personalised polls and statistics. • Awarding honks (points) and tracking your progress. • Sending notifications and transactional emails. • Fraud prevention and platform security. • Improving our services through aggregated analysis.

We process your personal data on the following bases: • Performance of contract: for delivering our service. • Legitimate interest: for fraud prevention and platform security. • Consent: for sending optional notifications (you may withdraw this at any time).

On the result screen of our questions you can sign up, without an account, for a daily email with new questions and how the questions you answered are doing. For this we store your email address, language, time of sign-up, your anonymous session (gt_session, to show your earlier answers) and which emails we sent you. The legal basis is your consent. Right after signing up you receive a confirmation email; if you did not sign up yourself, you can unsubscribe the address there straight away. Every email contains an unsubscribe link. The emails are sent through our email service provider Resend, which processes your email address only on our behalf. After unsubscribing we send no further emails; you can ask us at info@goosetalk.com to delete your data completely.

Your account data is retained for as long as your account is active. Following deletion of your account, your personal data will be erased within 30 days, unless legal retention obligations require otherwise. Aggregated, anonymised statistics are retained indefinitely.

Under the GDPR you have the following rights: • Right of access: you may request what data we process about you. • Right to rectification: you may have inaccurate data corrected. • Right to erasure: you may request deletion of your data. • Right to restriction of processing. • Right to data portability. • Right to object to processing based on legitimate interest. You can exercise your rights by contacting us at info@goosetalk.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

Goosetalk uses only functional cookies that are necessary for the operation of the platform, including a session cookie (gt_session) for tracking anonymous votes and a preference cookie (gt_locale) for language settings. We do not place analytical, tracking or advertising cookies.

Your personal data is not sold to third parties and is not shared with third parties for commercial purposes.

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against loss, unauthorised access or unlawful processing. All communications take place via a secure connection (HTTPS). Passwords are never stored in readable form.

We reserve the right to amend this privacy policy. Changes will be published on this page. We recommend that you consult this page periodically. In the event of significant changes, we will notify you by email.
