Doctors may shrug, but half the country still reaches for the same old cures the minute a sniffle starts. Rank them from 'works every time' to 'utter nonsense'.
Put the items in your preferred order.

Vapour rub on the chest
A great cold dollop smeared on before bed, straight from the little blue jar. The smell alone takes you back to being nine years old.
A hot toddy
Not sure if it's the honey or the whisky doing the work, and frankly you don't care. You sleep like a log either way.
Mum's chicken soup
Steaming hot, proper homemade, with a hunk of bread on the side. Even if it does nothing, you feel looked after.
Gargling salt water
Half a teaspoon in warm water and a good noisy gargle over the sink. Horrible, but somehow it always calms things down.
Honey and lemon in hot water
Squeeze a lemon, spoon in the honey, wrap your hands round the mug. The cure for colds, bad days and most things in between.
