Every British home had something far too nice to actually use. Rank the treasures you were never allowed to touch.
Put the items in your preferred order.

The good towels
Fluffy, perfectly folded and hanging in the bathroom like a museum piece. You dried your hands on the scratchy old one next to it.

The front room
Best sofa, best cushions, and the carpet still had hoover lines. It only opened for the vicar or a funeral.

The fancy soaps
They sat in a little dish for about twenty years. Wash with one and you'd hear about it for a week.

The china tea set
Dainty cups, a matching milk jug and strict orders not to breathe near the cabinet. Visitors got the china while the family made do with chipped mugs.

The posh biscuits
The chocolate ones were hidden at the back of the cupboard. You got a rich tea and a look that said 'don't even think about it'.
