Which soap goodbye had you reaching for the tissues? Rank the most moving farewells
Soap characters can feel like part of the family after years on our screens. When they go, it can hit us harder than we expect.
Put the items in your preferred order.
A
Hayley Cropper
Hayley's last days with her devoted husband Roy were heartbreaking. Julie Hesmondhalgh and David Neilson barely left a dry eye in the country.
B
Jack Duckworth
Jack passed away quietly in his armchair, and his beloved Vera came back to fetch him. Simple, gentle and utterly unforgettable.
C
Peggy Mitchell
Barbara Windsor's final scenes as the Queen Vic's fiercest landlady were tough to watch. A proper farewell to a true soap legend.
D
Pat Butcher
Big earrings, big heart. Pat's final days, making peace with her old rival Peggy, said goodbye to a Walford favourite.
E
Ashley Thomas
Ashley's slow struggle with dementia felt painfully real for many families. John Middleton's performance stayed with viewers long after the credits.
