Football managers have turned dodging real questions into an art form. Some phrases are so overused they've become punchlines — but which one truly deserves to be banned forever?
Put the items in your preferred order.
'We take each game as it comes'
Uttered by every manager from the Premier League to the pub team. Says absolutely nothing but somehow fills 30 seconds of airtime.
'The lads gave 110% out there'
A mathematical impossibility repeated after every draw against relegation fodder. If only effort actually translated to points.
'It is what it is'
Deployed after conceding a last-minute equaliser or a shambolic 4-0 defeat. Basically means 'I've given up caring, why haven't you?'
'We go again next week'
The standard reply after a hammering. Comforting for absolutely no one, especially the fans who paid £80 for a ticket.
'The referee had a shocker'
Because obviously the linesman is why your £200m squad couldn't beat Luton. Deflection tactics at their finest.
